报告内容和摘要：

While IB research acknowledges that intellectual property rights (IPR) protection creates trade-offs for innovation, it remains unclear whether it enhances firm innovativeness in emerging economies. Our framework clarifies the mechanisms through which IPR protection influences firms’ (a) willingness to engage in R&D and foreign technology licensing (FTL) and (b) ability to conduct R&D and use foreign technology more effectively. We demonstrate that although stronger IPR protection encourages firms to engage in R&D, it limits the effectiveness of R&D in increasing innovativeness. Yet, the opposite pattern emerges for FTL (i.e., stronger IPR protection discourages its use but enhances its effectiveness).

王成岐，英国诺丁汉大学商学院战略与国际商务终身教授,战略与国际商务系主任。王教授于2007年加入诺丁汉大学，此前曾就职于利兹大学商学院（2000-2006）。王教授共发表近50篇学术论文（多为AJG 3*和4*期刊）,谷歌论文引用数超过7000,位于全球管理学者前2%。根据Journal of International Management（ABS 3*，2016年，第22卷，第4期）统计的影响得分，王教授在新兴经济体跨国公司研究领域中，全球学者排名第11位。
